Dystopias like Fahrenheit 451 work as moral warnings because we recognise ourselves in the characters.
Mildred is the definition of a moral warning as all she wants to do is sit in the parlour room and be immersed in the screen and not be aware of whats going on in the world. This is shown when Mildred says “My family is people. They laugh, I laugh and the colours.” This shows that Mildred’s life is centred around the parlour/technology. Dystopias like Fahrenheit work as moral warnings because we recognise ourselves as the characters. people recognize themselves as mildred, always on their phones computers watching tv and not being able to pull them selves away.
